The Baptism of the Lord

So many people are proud to say that they have been Baptised, that they are christian. The problem is that so so many do little about it.

I meet them, often introduced by the Undertakers. Lovely people who have lived good lives, worked hard, brought up their families to the best of their ability, but often with little or no contact with God. How much more would they have achieved if only they had found room for God.

Baptism isn’t a one off, it is a way of life where we search constantly for the God who loves us, in our lives, in the World and in others. God is the answer to our fears and doubts, God calms the chaos we create. God is the peace the World so desperately needs.

This feast of the Baptism of the Lord begins the challenge, that challenge that sets us looking for the God we need to make available in the World, in our own lives.

“See that I am God. See that I am in everything. See that I do everything.See that I have never stopped ordering my works, nor ever shall, eternally. See that I lead everything on to the conclusion I ordained for it before time began, by the same power, wisdom and love with which I made it. How can anything be amiss? “
